CRITICAL UPGRADES FOR SPENSLEY STREET PRIMARY SCHOOL

Spensley Street Primary School is a thriving community with a great reputation. But its facilities have been neglected by the state government for decades and the school is desperate for some upgrades. Parents and the community have put in a huge effort over many years to raise funds for basic maintenance and repairs. Now it’s time for the government to step up and fund these critical repairs at Spensley St Primary.

We call on the Victorian Government to deliver essential upgrades including:

  1. URGENT PRIORITY: Upgrades to downstairs toilet block including refit of flooring, ventilation, urinals, modern cubicles and repainting walls: $1 million
  2. URGENT PRIORITY: An upgrade to upstairs toilets and outdated staff facilities
  3. Learning Space upgrades to modernise the school to give students better learning opportunities: $4 million
  4. Administration, First Aid & Collaboration Spaces to give students and staff a more practical, flexible and innovative learning and working environment: $2 million

Victoria has the lowest funded public schools (and the lowest paid teachers) in the country. Upgrades to Spensley St go hand-in-hand with our calls to properly fund Victoria’s public education system as a whole. The State and Federal Labor Governments should be investing in every Victorian child so they can thrive.
