The right to abortion is increasingly under threat.
Recent elections in Queensland, and in the United States, have demonstrated that a change of government can put people’s reproductive rights at risk. Even in Victoria, where abortion is legal, there are 17 local government areas with no access to medical or surgical abortion.
That’s why we want to enshrine access to abortion in the Victorian constitution. This is a powerful way to make it harder for future governments to revoke this fundamental human right, based on their political agendas.
The Greens have introduced a Bill to Parliament that would do exactly this.
Reproductive rights have been hard-won in Victoria, but the fight isn’t over.
We cannot go back. It’s your body, your choice. Always.
