We’ve reached 2000 signatures!

We want to give a big thanks to everyone who signed the petition started by public housing resident Elena, and to all the public housing residents, advocacy groups and supporters who have helped us collect these signatures.

The more than 2000 signatures represent over 2000 conversations with Victorians who are concerned about the government’s plans to demolish and privative our state’s 44 public housing towers.

What happens now?

We have handed in the petition to Parliament, this now forces a special debate in Victorian Parliament on Wednesday 11 September 2024.

What can you do next?

Now’s the time to put pressure on Labor to turn up to the debate.

Every upper house MP has the choice to speak in the special debate, and as your representative they should. You have every right to know why your Labor representative is supporting the plan to demolish and privatise the towers.

You can email your relevant MPs, via the form below, and urge them to show up to the debate. It’ll take less than a minute to do!

With more of us emailing our upper house MPs, together we can make sure they turn up to the special debate instead of staying silent.

After you’ve sent this letter, head to your MP’s social media page and leave a comment letting them know you want them to turn up to the debate.
