The response to our first program has been overwhelmingly positive so we are closing applications for now.

Want to learn about state politics and help your community at the same time? Gabrielle de Vietri MP is looking for volunteers to join her team over the next 2-3 months.

Who is it for?

  • Anyone who is values-aligned, passionate about positive change and up for learning new skills.
  • No prior office experience needed but basic computer skills are required.
  • Ideally available during business hours (M-F 9-5pm).*
  • Priority given to those living in or connected to the electorate.
  • People from diverse backgrounds especially encouraged as a diversity of experiences will make our work even stronger.

What will I be doing?

You will be trained and supported by Gab’s small team of Electorate Officers in one/some/all of the following:

  • Correspondence: getting back to everyone who reaches out to Gab. You’ll support our team as we respond to emails, calls and letters.
  • Communications: letting everyone know all about the great work Gab is doing. You’ll collaborate with our team on news items for Gab’s website and support social content creation.
  • Campaigns: making change happen through empowering people. We have loads of data entry and admin support behind the scenes of campaigns like Save Live Music, Save Public Housing and more!
  • Community: engaging with and advocating for the people and organisations that make Richmond so amazing. Looking through the data we’ve collected from Gab’s recent community survey and events and supporting our team to summarise that data in a report that will help Gab be the best representative she can be.

Where and when will I be doing it?

Gab’s electorate office is at 188 Gertrude St, Fitzroy which is the main location for this program. Some tasks may be done remotely on a case-by-case basis. There will also be opportunities to visit and see the inner workings of Parliament House.

Office hours are M-F 9-5pm and the majority of this volunteer program will fall within those hours. Ideally we’d love a commitment of 3-6 hours per week, but this will always be flexible around your work, study, caring and other commitments.

How to apply

Send an email to gabrielle.devietri@parliament.vic.gov.au with a paragraph about yourself and why you’re interested in helping as an office volunteer.

Please include which of the 4 areas above you’d like to help with – it can be one, some or all.

Please include your general availability May-July and ideal range of number of hours per week. You don’t need to be available the same days and hours every week in this period, just let us know what you want and we will try our best to make it work.

*There are lots of other opportunities to help outside of business hours if this doesn’t match your availability – just drop us a line
