In September 2023, then Premier Daniel Andrews announced the Labor government’s plan to demolish and privatise all 44 public housing towers. Since then an enormous community-led campaign and a 15 month parliamentary inquiry has been exposing the enormous negative human impact, alternatives for retrofitting which are cheaper and better for the environment and the appalling lack of government transparency regarding this monumental decision.
