STOP THE DEMOLITION: SAVE PUBLIC HOUSING

Public housing residents have the right to a safe, secure & affordable home.

Petition update April 2024: we are at 1,350 paper signatures! If you can print or pick up some sheets and gather signatures from your networks, together we can hit the 2,000 target.

The Victorian Labor Government plans to demolish all 44 public housing towers and displace over 10,000 residents. They want to sell off the land to developers for mostly private housing. Labor’s plan will force people out of their homes and tear communities apart. Selling-off public land will only make the housing crisis worse.

The Greens want Labor to immediately stop this demolition and privatisation of public housing. We want to protect communities, maintain existing public housing, and build more.

A PETITION TO PARLIAMENT
We are supporting a resident petition demanding that Labor stop the demolition and sell off of public housing.
If it reaches 2000 paper signatures, we can force a special debate in Parliament about Labor’s plan.
This puts pressure on the government to stop the demolition and build more public housing.
