Burnley Train Station is not fit for purpose.
The only access is an underpass that floods when it rains. The ramps to the platforms do not meet basic accessibility standards. It is in urgent need of an upgrade.
The area around the station is growing rapidly. Several large commercial developments were fast-tracked by the State Government in the area on the basis that the transport infrastructure justifies the scale.
As more residents and employers move into the area and residents and workers, particularly those living with a disability, the lack accessible public transport and the unacceptable condition of the Burnley train station will prevent inequitable access to the area.
Community members and local workers request urgent upgrades to this critical piece of infrastructure to meet the current and future demand in our growing neighbourhood.
